I Swear There Were Apples in my Apple Pie…Apple Pie.

My mom made this years ago. My brother and I scarfed it down like it was the real deal. Mom just sat there with the biggest smirk on her face. She didn’t reveal the secret until we all were done eating the last pieces.


1 1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
2 tbs lemon juice
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 1/2 cup water
24 Ritz crackers
2 pie crusts


Break crackers in half and arrange in pie shell. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over crackersd. Add top crust and bake for 30-40 minutes until golden at 425 degrees. Cool. Serve. Smirk.
